Remembering Lloyd Stevens

“Although not a normal practice for the town’s annual report, the Board of Selectmen wishing to honor Lloyd Stevens dedicate this year’s issue to him.

The picture on the right shows Lloyd as most knew him; work clothes, the ever present pipe that needed some attention and the shirt pocket with the safety pin.

History will show that Mr. Stevens, as a citizen of a small town, served in many ways. For no short time he was Fire Chief, Fire Warden and Elected Road Agent. He even served a stint on the town Advisory Budget Committee. None of this however, shows his love for the town nor the helping hand he was always willing to extend to anyone in need. Being human, he had his cantankerous and stubborn side but his kindness and concern overshadowed that.

Though he did no suffer fools gladly, many remember Lloyd as a teacher. If you paid a little attention on visiting with him you always came away learning something. His way was to show you, not to just tell you how to accomplish a task. A most knowledgeable man in many ways, we who knew him have our  Lloyd Steven’s stories and will remember him in our own ways, but many are lucky enough to remember a caring friend.

Mr. Stevens, the Town of  Lee Thanks You!”
